All Argali tents come highly water resistant out of the box due to our seam construction and silicone coated thread. However, you do need to seam seal your tent (rain fly portion) to ensure your tent is fully waterproof.
How to Seam Seal Your Tent
*It is important to remember to seam seal the inside of your tent seams, not the outside.
- Pitch your tent as you normally would. We recommend pitching your tent inside out so you can access the inside of your seams while standing outside of your tent. This makes the process of seam sealing much easier, and if it is hot outside, much more enjoyable.
- Using the seam sealer provided with your tent, apply a very thin bead of seam sealer on all seams, zipper seams, and the stove jack seams. Apply a small amount of sealer on every seam and use your finger to spread it down the seam working the silicone into the thread on the seams. We find it easiest to use your finger with or without a disposable nitrile or rubber glove to apply the seam sealer.
- Let the silicone dry for at least an hour, but ideally up to 3 hours.
- Pack your tent up and get ready to have some fun.
Tips for Best Results
- Start sealing at the top of your tent seams and work your way down.
- You do not need a lot of seam sealer to waterproof your tent. Use a small bead of silicone to avoid having excess silicone "run" down your tent.
- Seam seal somewhere where the temperature is above 60 degrees F for faster curing.
